About this Site:
This website is one person’s initiative to build momentum in encouraging local businesses to green their processes, services and/or products.
There are too many case studies that show the benefits of doing so. At the very least are the economic benefits, e.g., increased profits through cost reduction (conservation), customer loyalty, increased customer traffic, idenitifying environmental risks to your business that may have an impact on your service, etc.
The fundamental beginning of this momentum is a directory of local Loudoun County VA (and nearby counties) businesses that are already showing great care and concern for our environment.
The Goals of this Website are:
- To learn more about making business processes and/or services more sustainable, through tracking, redesign and/or cultural shifts in an organization. The model I will be promoting and working from is based on the book called Green to Gold by Andrew Winston and Daniel Esty.
- To gather a database of local Loudoun County and surrounding area businesses that show obvious concern and care for our physical environment.
- To persuade other local businesses that caring for our physical environment through the products they buy, through reducing, reusing and recycling their materials, through conservation, etc; that it does pay off, in reduced costs, customer loyalty, employee morale, new ideas for your business processes, etc.
- To possibly link by-products from one business that might be used for another purpose in another business.
- To promote a sense of community in Loudoun County and nearby counties.
What this site is not:
- This is not a site for certifying businesses that they are green.
- This site does not list local wineries, as they are publicized through local and state tourism programs.
